The UF Innovation Academy (IA) has a position for students who would like to serve in the role of Communications Coordinator.
Job Description:
Monitor and respond to all traffic on the Innovation Academy email account from current and prospective students, parents, and UF Stakeholders and colleges
Manage and create content for the IA social media channels on Facebook, X, Instagram, LinkedIn, and YouTube.
Plan and create content using a scheduling system, like Buffer, to ensure continuous coverage throughout the year
Proofread documents and emails for UF and IA branding, spelling, and grammar
Compose the monthly IA newsletter that goes out to students, families, and stakeholders (MailChimp)
Compose Press Releases and notable news stories
Develop monthly Trailblazers for the website and social media content
Co-create and proofread emails to stakeholders, students, and faculty
Assist in the overall planning, set up, logistics and execution of all IA events – occasionally may take place outside regular office hours
Assist the Web Developer by proofreading the website, offering suggestions, and developing content
Assist and collaborate with the Graphic Designer as needed for events and projects
Oversee the social media content from IA events and collaborate with the IA Ambassadors and IA staff to generate content
Provide front desk coverage in the absence of the Administrative Specialist, including answering phones and directing lobby traffic
Other duties as assigned
Minimum Requirements:
This position is open to all non-IA Minor students who are eligible to work on campus, be employed through student Other Personnel Services (OPS), and maintain a minimum 2.0 grade point average. Must be in good academic and conduct standing with the University of Florida. Registered students are employed on a part-time basis. Work schedule that allows for an office presence 4 – 5 days a week up to 10 – 15 hours per week between 8:00 AM and 5:00 PM, Monday through Friday. Able to commit at least two-three consecutive semesters to the position.

Excellent verbal and written communication skills
Excellent time organizational and time management skills
Excellent ability to offer strong customer service and communicate with all stakeholders
Strong ability to work in an office environment independently and take initiative
Knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite, including PowerPoint, Word, Excel, Outlook, Teams, etc.
Must quickly develop an understanding of Innovation Academy policies, procedures, and program requirements– basic FAQs, general knowledge of the program, etc. – in order to efficiently answer questions via phone and email
Strong interpersonal skills, facilitation ability (public speaking/presentations, tabling for Innovation Academy at events, etc.)
Prior experience in an office setting, demonstrated written and communication ability, or other related work experience is preferred
Familiarity Adobe programs, like Acrobat, InDesign, Illustrator, etc.
Familiarity with Email services like MailChimp
Familiarity with content creation programs like Canva
Upper-level undergraduates in the College of Journalism and Communication with relevant experience preferred
