Social Media and Outreach Intern

The BRAIN Center at the University of Florida is seeking a dynamic and motivated individual to join our team as a Social Media and Outreach Intern. This internship provides an excellent opportunity for students in advertising, public relations, marketing, or communications to gain valuable hands-on experience in a research center environment that emphasizes community engagement.


Social Media Management:
-Create engaging content for the BRAIN Center’s social media platforms, primarily Twitter, to increase awareness and engagement.
-Schedule and publish posts, monitor activity, and respond to inquiries or comments in a timely manner.
-Collaborate with team members to develop social media campaigns and strategies to promote events, research findings, and initiatives.

Website Updates:
-Assist in updating and maintaining the BRAIN Center’s website with current information, news, and events.
-Ensure content is accurate, visually appealing, and optimized for user experience and search engines.

Outreach Activities:
-Represent the BRAIN Center at weekend events through tabling activities, engaging with attendees, and distributing promotional materials.
-Develop and maintain relationships with community partners, stakeholders, and relevant organizations to expand the Center’s outreach efforts.

Graphics Creation:
-Design graphics and visuals for social media posts, website updates, event promotions, and other marketing materials as needed.
-Ensure brand consistency and adherence to the BRAIN Center’s visual identity guidelines.

Meeting Organization:
-Assist in organizing meetings, workshops, and events by coordinating logistics, sending invitations, and preparing materials.


-Currently enrolled in a relevant field such as advertising, public relations, marketing, communications, or a related discipline.
-Strong written and verbal communication skills.
-Proficiency in social media platforms, particularly Twitter, and familiarity with social media management tools.
-Basic graphic design skills using software such as Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools.
-Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks, and meet deadlines.
-Comfortable with occasional weekend availability for events.
-Passion for the biomedical sciences is a plus.
-Flexible, with a minimum commitment of 15 hours per week.
