Position Overview:
Starr Wellness Collective (SWC) is seeking 5 creative and enthusiastic Social Media and Marketing Interns to join our dynamic team. These interns will play vital roles in documenting and sharing the impact of our initiatives.
Positions Available:
Content Strategy & Planning:
- Assist in developing and implementing comprehensive content strategies across various digital channels (social media, blog, email). Research industry trends and audience insights to inform content creation and campaign planning.
Content Creation:
- Assist with capturing high-quality photos and videos of program activities, workshops, and events.
- Assist with creating engaging social media content, including posts, stories, and reels/TikToks.
- Assist with developing visually appealing graphics and content for various platforms.
- Assist with creating compelling narratives that highlight the impact of SWC’s programs.
Social Media Management:
- Assist with managing and updating SWC’s social media accounts (TikTok, Instagram, Facebook, Threads, YouTube, etc.).
- Assist with scheduling and publishing content according to a content calendar.
- Assist with monitoring social media engagement and respond to comments and messages.
- Assist with researching and implementing social media trends to increase followers and engagement.
Email Campaign/Blogs (Digital Storytelling & Outreach):
- Assist with drafting, editing, and scheduling engaging blog posts that showcase program highlights, participant stories, and relevant wellness topics. Develop and manage email newsletters to inform and engage the SWC community, ensuring consistent brand voice and messaging.
Community Engagement (Audience Interaction & Growth):
- Assist with engaging with the online community across all platforms, fostering positive interactions and responding to inquiries. Identify opportunities for community collaboration and partnerships to expand SWC’s digital reach and impact.
Qualifications:
General (Applies to all areas):
- Currently pursuing or recently completed a Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Marketing, Communications, Journalism, Digital Media, Public Relations, or a related field.
- Strong interest in youth development, health, and wellness, aligning with SWC’s mission.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills; ability to adapt tone and style for different platforms and audiences.
- High level of organization, attention to detail, and ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines.
- Proactive, self-motivated, and eager to learn in a fast-paced environment.
- Ability to work independently as well as collaboratively within a team.
Content Strategy & Planning:
- Basic understanding of digital marketing principles and social media trends.
- Familiarity with social media analytics (e.g., Instagram Insights, Facebook Analytics) to track performance and inform strategy.
- Ability to conduct basic research on audience preferences and competitor activities.
- Strong conceptualization and brainstorming skills for content ideas and campaigns.
Content Creation:
- Demonstrated experience in creating engaging visual content (photos, videos, graphics). A portfolio or samples of previous work are a plus.
- Proficiency with graphic design tools (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite – Photoshop, Illustrator) for creating visually appealing assets.
- Familiarity with video editing software (e.g., CapCut, InShot, Adobe Premiere Rush) for short-form video content (Reels, TikToks).
- Strong storytelling ability to craft compelling narratives and participant testimonials.
Social Media Management:
- Proficiency and active presence on major social media platforms (Instagram, Facebook, TikTok, Threads, YouTube).
- Experience with social media scheduling tools (e.g., Later, Buffer, Hootsuite) is a plus.
- Understanding of platform-specific best practices and content optimization for each channel.
- Ability to monitor engagement, identify trends, and respond appropriately to comments and messages.
Email Campaign/Blogs (Digital Storytelling & Outreach):
- Strong writing, editing, and proofreading skills for longer-form content.
- Familiarity with email marketing platforms (e.g., Mailchimp, Constant Contact) is a plus.
- Basic understanding of email marketing best practices, including list segmentation and deliverability.
- Ability to research and write on health, wellness, and youth development topics.
Community Engagement (Audience Interaction & Growth):
- Excellent interpersonal skills and a friendly, approachable demeanor.
- Enthusiasm for interacting with online communities and fostering positive relationships.
- Ability to respond empathetically and professionally to diverse inquiries and feedback.
- Creative approach to encouraging audience participation and discussion.
Requirements:
Orientation Participation:
- Participate in all orientation sessions to understand SWC’s mission, programs, and branding guidelines.

Note: This is a volunteer internship position. Interviews to be conducted until end of August.
