Job Summary
The Seacrest Studios’ internship program immerses students into a real-world, hands-on video and digital media production environment. Interns create fun and educational programming that actively engages the hospital’s pediatric patients and ultimately helps in their healing. Students work in teams to learn how to use studio and field production equipment and create a variety of on-air content. Interns have an opportunity to develop their own live and postproduction projects from concept to completion. They will create project proposals, plan their workflow, and submit requests for studio time, equipment, and crew. Students will take ownership of their projects while advancing their skills in shooting, writing, and editing digital media. Interns will create elements for studio productions through videography, photography, graphic design, and multimedia content development. Interns receive specialized training on how to run a live show, as well as how to work with celebrities and community partners.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities
- Develop and produce children’s video segments / shows for airing on the hospital’s closed-circuit television system. This includes pitching ideas, writing, recording voiceovers, creating graphics, shooting video, and editing.
- Create project proposals, plan workflow, arrange for staff and equipment and produce promotional materials.
- Participate in studio programming by manning jobs / roles during shows such as hosting, technical directing, audio, digital playback, answering calls / text messages, and responding to audience feedback.
- Recording / creating, editing, and organizing digital media (videos, photos, images, animations, and graphics) for promotional and archival use.
- Provide production support for daily morning show by gathering content and creating graphics for slides.
- Engage pediatric patients in production, encouraging them to watch, call in during the live shows, or visit the studio in-person.
- Serve as ambassador for the Ryan Seacrest Foundation and Arnold Palmer Hospital for Children, assisting with tours of the studio, inviting patients to visit the studio, and interacting with them in productions.
- Provide photos, videos, and content for the Seacrest Foundation and Orlando Health social media accounts.
- Coordinate, identify, and compile elements for interactive shows for young children and teens such as craft bags and game supplies.
- Conduct research and utilize credible sources to gather facts for productions.
- Coordinate events with facilities, physicians and community agencies as required.
- Participate as a team player and perform other related duties as required.
- Interacts with studio staff, volunteers, and some of the other health care team members.
Skills / Professional Qualifications
- Photography, videography, and digital media design skills
- Multimedia content development and promotional / marketing skills
- Familiarity with Adobe Creative Suite (Premiere Pro / Photoshop / After Effects)
- Familiarity with Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, Excel)
- Knowledge of social media
- Knowledge of AP style writing
- Verbal and written communication skills, fluency with Mac or PC
- Desire to work with young children and teens

Resources for Students:
- A company provided computer, studio equipment, field production equipment, supplies and materials.
- A flexible schedule designed around the student’s class schedule.
- Students will come away with samples of creative work for use in their personal demo reel / portfolio at the conclusion of the internship.
Requirements:
- Currently enrolled at either the University of Central Florida, Rollins College, or University of Florida obtaining a degree in a communications-related field.
- Interns report for 14 hours a week minimum. This is an unpaid internship which starts one week after the semester starts and concludes one week prior to the semester end.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite (Word, Excel, Power Point and Outlook).
- Basic knowledge of advertising, marketing, journalism, and public relations.
Intern Responsibilities:
- Students who are offered internships will need to complete orientation paperwork as indicated by the Orlando Health corporate student education department.
- Students must communicate any deadlines and requirements set forth by their college to the studio production manager.
- Interns are required to abide by the Orlando Health dress code.
- Students must comply with all Orlando Health policies and procedures.
- Interns must maintain punctual attendance consistent with Orlando Health policies.

The studio engages children and their families during their stay, with the goal of helping in the healing process. Interns are key in achieving this goal through their support of the daily studio operations. The program is beneficial for patients and interns alike, as it allows students to gain in-depth experience in broadcasting, programming, and operation of a multimedia studio in a fun and supportive environment.
