Academic Publication Intern

Ideal Applicants: Early-career students seeking practical experience in academic publication; little to no previous experience required. [1st – 4th Year Students]

Duration: 5-12+ flexible hours/week alongside busy academic schedule; positions semester-long or year-long; weekly responsibilities prioritize quality of project experience rather than quantity of hours logged.

Objective: Equip interns with hands-on experience integrating real-world career functions with artificial intelligence (AI) competencies in academic publication across various industries’ journals and research articles.

Interns in this role will be assigned to projects based on their skills, department needs, and current organizational goals. Responsibilities vary by specific assignment within the department but may include:

  • Assistance in Content Development and Production:
    • Support the transformation of qualitative data into visual, statistical, and educational formats suitable for research publications and training modules.
    • Assist in directing the entire production process to ensure content adheres to high academic and educational standards.
  • Data Analysis and Utilization Support:
    • Help supervise and conduct detailed data analysis projects, extracting insights and ensuring rigor in interpretation.
    • Aid in strategizing on the integration of research data to create engaging and accessible educational content.
  • Collaborative Content Creation and Oversight Assistance:
    • Contribute to the management of quantitative, multimedia, and text-based content creation that visualizes data and enhances research presentation.
    • Work collaboratively with research teams and academic partners to ensure accuracy and pedagogical soundness.
  • Partnership and Relationship Management Support:
    • Assist in cultivating relationships with academic institutions and journals to promote research visibility and impact.
    • Coordinate with various teams to ensure all materials align with organizational goals and academic standards.
  • Publication, Compliance, and Educational Material Enhancement Assistance:
    • Support the preparation, submission, and publication processes for academic articles and educational materials.
    • Ensure outputs meet academic standards and align with SafeStride’s objectives, tailored to the needs of learners and volunteers.
  • Project and Quality Management Assistance:
    • Help oversee projects incorporating multimedia elements to enhance the educational value of publications.
    • Support team members to ensure consistency and quality across all outputs.
  • Specialized Educational Strategies Support:
    • Assist in developing materials tailored to diverse learners and volunteers, enhancing their engagement and understanding.
    • Facilitate interdepartmental collaborations to create accessible research presentations and educational tools.
  • Department-Wide A.I. Integration:
    • Utilize AI tools such as Iris.ai for comprehensive literature reviews and QuillBot for enhancing text clarity and originality.
    • Support sophisticated AI use in research processes, enabling precise and high-quality academic work.

**Our internships are eligible for academic credit towards specific degree programs (3 credit hours = 120 internship hours completed). Eligibility varies by individual and degree program, so please specify degree program details when applying to ensure you meet the requirements.
