Public Relations and Social Media Intern

Ideal Applicants: Early-career students seeking practical experience in public relations and social media; little to no previous experience required. [1st – 4th Year Students]

Duration: 5-12+ flexible hours/week alongside busy academic schedule; positions semester-long or year-long; weekly responsibilities prioritize quality of project experience rather than quantity of hours logged.

Objective: To provide interns with foundational experience by leveraging artificial intelligence (AI) capabilities in public relations and social media.

Interns in this role will be assigned to project opportunities based on their skills, department needs, and current organizational goals. Responsibilities vary by specific assignment within the department but may include:

  • Strategy and Development Support:
    • Assist in developing and executing unified social media strategies to enhance brand engagement, reach, and awareness across platforms like Instagram, LinkedIn, TikTok, or other platforms.
    • Support integrated public relations strategies, including crisis communications and monitoring brand strategy impact on the market.
    • Contribute to brand development efforts, helping manage brand identity and the creation of marketing materials.
  • Content and Communications Assistance:
    • Help create and oversee engaging content for social media and marketing materials to maintain brand coherence.
    • Coordinate with media inquiries and influencer partnerships to expand brand reach and credibility.
    • Engage with the community on various platforms and use feedback to refine strategies.
      Implement internal communication strategies to enhance departmental collaboration.
  • Operational Management Support:
    • Assist in planning and executing logistics for public events, brand events, and product launches.
    • Help manage PR and social media campaigns from planning through execution, ensuring project milestones are met.
    • Collaborate with IT to support digital tools and infrastructure, resolving technical challenges.
    • Monitor market impacts to assess the effectiveness of brand strategies and partnerships.
  • Collaboration and Integration Support:
    • Support the integration of social media and PR efforts with marketing strategies to support broader organizational goals.
    • Ensure communication tools and technologies are aligned with strategic needs.
  • Department-wide A.I. Integration:
    • Help analyze the effectiveness of social media campaigns and PR efforts using AI tools like Brandwatch and Hootsuite Insights.
    • Stay updated on emerging trends and competitor activities to maintain the brand’s industry leadership, under guidance from senior staff.

**Our internships are eligible for academic credit towards specific degree programs (3 credit hours = 120 internship hours completed). Eligibility varies by individual and degree program, so please specify degree program details when applying to ensure you meet the requirements.
