Public Relations and Social Media Fellow

  • Encouraged majors/areas of study: Public Relations, Communications, Marketing, Journalism, Graphic Design, Digital Media, Computer Science, Psychology, Media Studies, Data Science, Hospitality/Event Management, AI and Machine Learning, Business Administration/General Business.

Duration: 7-12+ flexible hours/week alongside a busy academic schedule; positions semester-long, year-long, or more—varies with individual student goals, abilities, and performance; weekly responsibilities prioritize quality of project experience rather than quantity of hours logged.

Objective: To advance students’ leadership and professional expertise in public relations and social media, integrating real-world functions with artificial intelligence (AI) competencies. Fellows will refine their skills in strategy development, content management, and digital communications, preparing them for advanced communication roles in any professional environment.

Fellows in this role will be assigned to project opportunities based on their skills, department needs, and current organizational goals. Responsibilities vary by specific assignment within the department but may include:

  • Strategy and Development:
    • Develop and execute unified social media strategies to enhance brand engagement and awareness across platforms such as Instagram, LinkedIn, and TikTok.
    • Orchestrate integrated public relations strategies, manage crisis communications, and monitor the impact of brand strategies on the market.
    • Oversee operational and strategic oversight, managing timelines and resources to align activities with organizational goals.
  • Content and Communications:
    • Lead the creation of engaging content for social media and influence marketing materials to maintain brand coherence.
    • Represent the organization through media inquiries and manage influencer partnerships partnerships to expand brand reach and credibility.
    • Implement internal communications strategies to enhance interdepartmental collaboration.
  • Operational Management:
    • Coordinate logistics for public events, brand events, and product launches.
    • Plan and execute PR and social media campaigns, ensuring effective project management and technical support.
    • Monitor market trends and the impact of brand strategies, utilizing data insights for strategic adjustments.
  • Collaboration and Integration:
    • Integrate social media efforts with broader company strategies through cross-department collaboration.
    • Ensure that communication tools and technology are aligned with the needs of marketing and public relations.
  • Department-wide A.I. Integration:
    • Analyze the effectiveness of social media campaigns and PR efforts using AI tools like Brandwatch and Hootsuite Insights to optimize content and strategies.
    • Stay updated on emerging trends and competitor activities in the social media and public relations fields to maintain the brand’s leadership.

**Our fellowships are eligible for academic credit towards specific degree programs (3 credit hours = 120 internship hours completed). Eligibility varies by individual and degree program, so please specify degree program details when applying to ensure you meet the requirements.
