About Us:

The Miss America Opportunity (MAO) is the largest provider of scholarships for young women in the world. As a local franchise of the MAO, the Miss Gainesville/Ocala Scholarship Program is dedicated to empowering young women in our community and across the state of Florida.

We are currently seeking a Public Relations & Social Media Intern to join our team. This is an excellent opportunity to gain hands-on experience in nonprofit communication, branding, and media relations—while supporting a meaningful cause.

Intern Responsibilities:

• Support image management, branding, and marketing initiatives
• Create engaging content for various platforms, including social media, blog posts, newsletters, website updates, and press releases
• Monitor media coverage and assist with media outreach and coordination
• Strengthen and grow our online community through active engagement and thoughtful interaction with followers
• Manage social media inboxes by responding to comments and direct messages in a timely and professional manner

Qualifications:

• Pursuing a degree in Public Relations, Communications, Journalism, Marketing, Advertising, or a related field
• Familiarity with all major social media platforms (Facebook, Instagram, TikTok, X/Twitter, LinkedIn, )
• Basic graphic design and video editing skills for content creation (e.g., Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, or similar tools)
• Strong written and verbal communication skills
• Highly organized and detail-oriented
• Friendly, professional, and proactive with a collaborative spirit
• Proficient in Microsoft Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) or Google Workspace
• Passion for the mission of the Miss America Opportunity

Internship Details:

• Time Commitment: Approximately 10 hours per week
• Location: Gainesville, FL
• Start Date: Fall 2025 Semester
