OCCP Graduate Assistant

The Office of Careers and Corporate Partnerships (OCCP) within the University of Florida College of Journalism and Communications is seeking a graduate assistant to join our team. OCCP provides recruiting services and partnership opportunities to employers looking to connect with CJC students. We work with businesses to link CJC students to internships and other opportunities to develop their skills.

This position will work closely with the OCCP team on the Gator-to-Gator Coaching Program, matching CJC alumni with graduating CJC students for a virtual meeting focused on career advice and opportunities. The graduate student will work on all aspects of the program, including marketing, matching, communications and evaluation. This is an opportunity to be a part of growing program and to build relationships with employers and alumni.

Position responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Coordinate the implementation of the CJC Gator to Gator Coaching Program
  • Assist in implementation of OCCP’s strategic initiatives, including building the college’s employer network
  • Collaborate in the development and implementation of OCCP’s communications and marketing plan, including messaging and materials
  • Represent the office at various outreach events
  • Assist with social media and student organization engagement
  • Other duties as assigned

Position requirements:

  • Excellent written and verbal skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Strong computer skills, including Microsoft Office Suite and Adobe Creative Cloud
  • Experience with data collection and analysis
  • Experience with Zoom and/or other virtual interface
  • A commitment to diversity and inclusion
  • Be a campus-based, full-time graduate student

Position preferences:

  • Graduate study in Journalism and Communications or related field
  • Project management experience
  • Experience with Qualtrics
  • Strong work ethic with the ability to take initiative and work independently
  • Positive attitude and eager to tackle new projects
  • Editing, production, graphic design or broadcast skills are a plus

The position is 10 hours per week (0.25 FTE) with the possibility of occasional after-hour events. The position begins in August 2024 and continues through the end of the spring semester in May 2025 with the option of Summer 2025. Compensation includes a competitive stipend plus fee waiver (9 credits).
