Duties: As a Content Creation & Video Editing Intern, you will play a critical role in producing high-quality digital content that aligns with our brand’s mission and values. Your key responsibilities will include:
Video Editing:
- Edit long-form video podcasts to create professional, polished content suitable for publishing on video hosting platforms like YouTube, Vimeo, and Rumble.
- Content Distribution: Upload finalized video content to various video platforms and publish audio files to podcast distribution sites.
- Short-Form Content Creation: Edit and repurpose video podcasts into informative and entertaining short-form reels for social media, optimizing for engagement and reach.
- SEO & Copywriting: Write SEO-optimized descriptions and viral copy to accompany videos, podcasts, and social media reels, ensuring maximum visibility.
- Utilize AI, SEO tools, keyword research, targeted tags and the latest trends for a comprehensive effort.
- File Management: Organize and manage video files on cloud storage, maintaining a clear and accessible archive of all content.

Sophomore, Junior, or Senior. Graduate students are also welcome to apply.

Specific Tasks & Time Estimates
Weekly Video Podcast Editing (90-120 minutes)
- Edit the full podcast episode (add captions, titles, subtitles, intro/outro, music jingles, and calls to action).
- Ensure smooth transitions and professional presentation.
- Upload to YouTube, Vimeo, and Rumble with proper formatting.
- Estimated Time: 8-10 hours per week (1 episode).
Podcast Audio Editing
- Edit and export audio-only versions of the podcast.
- Upload to Buzzsprout or Descript for publishing.
- Format and optimize for audio platforms.
- Estimated Time: 2 hours per week.
Transcript Generation & Blog Preparation
- Generate an accurate transcript of each podcast episode.
- Proofread and format the transcript for blog posting.
- Estimated Time: 1-2 hours per week.
Social Media Reels Creation
- Create 10 captivating short-form reels (30-90 seconds) from each podcast episode.
- Add captions, engaging transitions, and subtitles.
- Save to a shared drive (e.g., iCloud or Google Drive) for the social media team.
- Estimated Time: 6-8 hours per week.
Backlog Podcast Editing
- Create accompanying social media reels for these episodes.
- Edit and publish 7-8 already-recorded podcast episodes (video and audio).
- Estimated Time: 10-12 hours per week (spread over several weeks).
Educational Video Editing
- Edit solo educational videos (10-30 minutes) with captions, titles, and intros/outros.
- Publish to YouTube or save to a shared drive for the social media team.
- Estimated Time: 4-6 hours per week for 1-2 videos.
Optional/Additional Video Editing Tasks
Suggestions:
- Create teaser trailers for upcoming podcast episodes.
- Repurpose old podcast content into new reels or educational snippets.
- Help optimize thumbnails and metadata for YouTube uploads.
- Estimated Time: 2-3 hours per week (if needed).
Total Weekly Time Estimate
- Initial Backlog Period (first few weeks): 25-30 hours per week.
- Ongoing Weekly Work: 20-25 hours per week.
Training Recommendations
Initial Onboarding
- Conduct a 1-hour video call to introduce Avery to your brand’s style, tone, and goals.
Share detailed guidelines or examples of the editing style you want (e.g., references for intro/outro, captions, etc.).
- Walk through your podcast production process step by step.
- Hands-On Training
- Assign Avery to edit one of your existing podcast episodes as a test project.
- Provide specific feedback on the first draft (e.g., timing of transitions, clarity of captions, branding consistency).
- Have her refine the episode based on feedback.
Access & Tools
- Provide access to Riverside FM recordings, your logo/branding assets, and templates (e.g., for intros/outros).
- Share login credentials for platforms like YouTube, Buzzsprout, and shared drives.
Accountability & Work Review
- Weekly Check-Ins
- Schedule a 30-minute meeting each week to discuss progress, challenges, and upcoming tasks.
- Review work (e.g., a draft of an edited podcast or a reel) during the call.
- Feedback Loop
- Use collaborative tools like Google Docs or a shared folder for Avery to submit work.
- Provide written or recorded feedback, pointing out specific changes needed.
- Tracking Progress
- Use a simple project management tool (e.g., Trello, Asana) to track tasks, deadlines, and completed work.
- Create a shared spreadsheet or document to track the backlog editing progress.
- Performance Reviews
- Conduct monthly evaluations to assess her editing quality, adherence to deadlines, and overall contribution.
- Offer constructive feedback and acknowledge achievements.
