Irving Publications, the Gainesville, Florida based publishing house of the award-winning Giggle Magazine and Wellness360 Magazine is seeking editorial interns to for our family of magazines and websites.
This ideal candidate will pitch stories, research topics and ideas, write and edit stories and help plan editorial calendars that all align with our core values and mission while speaking to our audience and creating valuable engagement and excitement about the brands.
This position will report directly to our Publisher and will be exposed to various opportunities including professional growth, portfolio-building, networking and mentorship, while growing
their knowledge and experience in the field of journalism.
In this role, you must be a self-starter and an excellent communicator and collaborator and always willing to go above and beyond and share ideas and opinions in a professional manner. This internship is ideal for anyone who is obsessed with publishing, creativity, writing, storytelling, editing and research.

- Have excellent written communication skills
- Excel in AP style
- Have an eye for detail
- Be extremely adaptable, driven and ambitious, willing to pitch new stories and look for out of the box ideas that are appealing to audience
- Maintains confidentiality where required
- Have working knowledge of Google Docs, Google Sheets
- Have working knowledge of Microsoft Word
- Excellent interpersonal communication skills
- Be able to manage time, resources and projects for fast turnaround deadlines with efficiency
- Be proactive and a go-getter
- Be able to work in a collaborative setting but also be independent
- Be a team player who can communicate clearly in both written and oral form is paramount
- Have an inclusive mindset with strong interpersonal skills
- Be open to constructive criticism and edits to work and be able to grow from it and work to best potential in professional setting.
Job Responsibilities
- Write editorial pieces for family of magazines.
- Pitch stories and ideas for new and fresh content
- Assisting with events as needed
- Conducting research and fact checking for stories and pieces as needed
- Edit drafts and stories using PDF editing software
Qualifications
- Be enrolled in a degree seeking program at University of Florida and be able to enroll in
approved internship credit through department
- Access to AP style guideline book (digital or paper)
