Meta LATAM is seeking an experienced Communications Director to lead the company’s work in North Latin America. The successful candidate will be a strategist and strong team player, with a track record of developing and executing proactive communications campaigns, excellent writing skills and storytelling in earned, owned and paid media. The role is hands-on, and will manage proactive and reactive communications, from strategy to messaging to execution. This position is based in Mexico City, and will report to the Communications VP for Latin America. In accordance with Mexico Federal Labor Law, preference will be given to candidates who are Mexican nationals.

Communications Director, North Latam Responsibilities

  • Develop and execute communications strategies and initiatives to support Meta
  • Latam’s innovation, economic impact and responsibility efforts in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean
  • Interface, consult and build projects with senior leaders in Latin America and across the company
  • Educate users, press, creators, policy audiences and others about core Meta LATAM products and initiatives
  • Drive positive conversation across a broad range of channels, including the company’s innovation vision, it’s social and economic impact and its commitment to responsibility
  • Protect and enhance the reputation of Meta LATAM and its products

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelors’ degree or equivalent experience
  • 15+ years of professional experience, in-house or agency
  • Very strong writing and communications skills
  • Experience managing and building teams
  • Experience navigating complex stakeholders and cross-functional relationships
  • Deep knowledge of the business and regulatory landscape in Mexico, Central America and the Caribbean
  • Experience managing multiple projects simultaneously and working autonomously in a fast-paced, high-growth environment
  • Ability to think, plan, and execute resourcefully
  • Experience of complex policy issues on a national or international basis
  • Fluency in Spanish and English

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing diverse and distributed teams
  • Experience in the internet technology industry
