The New York Times Corps is a journalism mentorship program for undergraduate students to receive career guidance from Times journalists over a multiyear period. The application is open to U.S.-based students who are completing their undergraduate studies in 2028, 2029 or 2030. International students who attend college in the United States are eligible to apply.
The program is slated to begin in late summer 2026 and concludes upon completion of each student’s undergraduate studies. The incoming class is likely to comprise about 20 students. Students do not need extensive journalism experience.
The Times Corps is designed for undergraduates interested in pursuing a journalism career who would particularly benefit from access to mentorship or guidance from people in the field. We are especially interested in applications from students from socioeconomically disadvantaged backgrounds and students who attend colleges or universities, including community colleges, that do not have an established record of sending alumni to The Times.
Students who fulfill the requirements of the program may earn an opportunity to visit New York, where they will tour the Times newsroom and meet Times journalists in person.
The application closes at 5 p.m. Eastern time on Friday, June 12. Applications cannot be revised after they are submitted, and applications received after the deadline will not be considered. Candidates who fail to include the required materials or otherwise do not follow instructions will not be considered. No part of the application should be input into or contain content generated, modified or enhanced by artificial intelligence.
The Times Corps is not a paid job. Corps members are not employees of The Times, and they do not produce news or other content or perform any other work for The Times
