Marketing & Communications Summer Intern

Website Spina Bifida Association of America

The Spina Bifida Association (SBA) is the nation’s only national voluntary health organization that focuses on building a better and brighter future for all those impacted by Spina Bifida through education, advocacy, research, support, and clinical care. Spina Bifida, one of the country’s most common, permanently disabling birth defects compatible with life, occurs during fetal development, resulting in a gap or lesion on the spinal column. Although the gap can be closed or lesion removed, Spina Bifida is a lifelong condition that can result in mobility, neurological, bowel & bladder, and learning challenges.

We are looking for a summer intern who is interested in putting their marketing and communication skills to use to improve the lives of the 166,000 Americans living with Spina Bifida. Do  you want to make a difference and help create real, lasting change? If so, then this opportunity is for you.

A summer intern in marketing and communications at SBA will:

  • Create compelling social media (Facebook, X, Instagram) that educates key stakeholders on Spina Bifida and promotes SBA’s events and programs;
  • Develop content to support SBA’s monthly “What’s Happening?” newsletter;
  • Develop e-blasts for dissemination to target audiences;
  • Create compelling video content to support SBA programs and initiatives;
  • Help generate earned media to raise awareness of Spina Bifida; and
  • Complete other marketing and communications assignments as needed.

We are looking for a creative individual skilled in digital content creation who’s a strong writer, a quick learner, and a self-starter comfortable working remotely.

As a summer intern at SBA, you’ll get to see what it takes to deliver content at a small, well-respected national nonprofit with a track record of getting results that improve lives. If you’re interested and excited about this kind of work, we’d love to hear from you! We can offer a small stipend and can work with you to accommodate your summer schedule.
