Peaceful Paths is the certified domestic violence center that serves survivors of domestic violence in Alachua, Bradford, and Union counties. We provide a wide range of services including emergency shelter, 24-hour helpline, victim advocacy, children’s programming, economic empowerment education and support, crisis counseling and support groups, community awareness and intervention, and violence prevention programs.
Peaceful Paths offers dynamic internships for undergraduate and graduate students interested in gaining valuable experience for credit. Most internships are a 2-semester commitment to appropriately develop the skills necessary to work in direct service or outreach. We have four different internship opportunities at this time and they are as follows:
Marketing and Social Media Intern – Assist with creating marketing materials and social media posts. Assist with donor cultivation and the planning and execution of fundraising events. (12-18 hours per week)
Fundraising and Events Intern – Assist with community outreach and tablings promote events throughout Gainesville. Help with fundraising event planning, organization, and execution. (12-18 hours per week)
Education and Youth Intern – Assist with childcare, child support groups, creating social media posts, participating in social justice round tables, creating violence prevention materials, and tabling/speaking in the community during events. (10-15 hours per week)
Adult Services Intern – Assist with client intakes, work with our Outreach and Shelter services (Economic Empowerment, Legal, InVEST, Support Group, Abuse in Later Life, Housing Advocacy, etc), assist front desk staff, and answer helpline calls. (10-15 hours per week)
