UF Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing
The Office of Strategic Communications and Marketing is hiring a graduate assistant to help with communications, marketing, social media, and brand management efforts. Student must be able to work 20 hours per week. Scheduling will be at the discretion of the student and their supervisor.
Rate determined by GAU
Responsibilities include:
Writing stories for UF News and for media distribution
Pitching stories to media
Supporting with institutional stories (awards, student profiles)
Assist with administrative tasks, including Trello updates, Experts, etc.
Developing and implementing a strategy in coordination with colleagues for the UF News X account
Assist with other marketing and communications projects as assigned
Learning Outcomes:
Understand content creation and organization for a variety of communications and marketing efforts
Refine writing and communications skills for media, web, etc.
Experience working with news media on pitching
Experience developing/implementing social media strategy as well as tracking metrics
Understand communications, social media and marketing brand management and guidelines
Minimum Requirements:
Must be a currently enrolled University of Florida student with good academic and conduct standing. Must be able to work 20 hours per week with a schedule that allows work to be completed during business hours (M-F, 8am-5pm) in at least 2-hour blocks. This position may be on-site or hybrid of on-site/remote.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proficient writer with background in AP Style, news writing, etc.
Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite including PowerPoint, Excel, Outlook and Word
Basic understanding of social media platforms
Ability to read, write and communicate professionally
Basic copywriting skills
