MULTIMEDIA & DIGITAL COORDINATOR

JOB SUMMARY

Responsible for the graphic design, video production, and photography for support of the strategic initiatives of the Tourist Development Department. Responsible for assisting with the development and implementation of the department’s brand related projects, marketing, and special projects.

ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS

  • Creates compelling and creative graphic design, visual communication, and typography layouts for brand campaigns and projects.
  • Develops designs that are consistent with Tourist Development design quality and brand standards.
  • Coordinates with Tourist Development internal team and outside agencies to develop creative concepts and executions of assigned campaigns and projects.
  • Develops ad units to complement the creative and brand direction for the destination in accordance with the strategic plan, marketing plan and media plan.
  • Ability to complete projects on time and on budget.
  • Maintains knowledge of brand standards and AP standards.
  • Maintains knowledge of industry trends, tools, and design technology to propose innovative ideas.
  • Maintains knowledge of design trends particularly in Travel, Tourism, and Entertainment Industry.
  • Performs design and graphic production tasks under tight deadlines, in a high-volume production environment with solid consistency and accuracy to ensure minimal errors.
  • Creates graphic, written, and verbal media for public consumption.
  • Produces marketing copy to promote destination including blogs,advertorials, media digital and print media placements, etc.
  • Creates professional audiovisual (video) and graphic design materials to support tourist development campaigns and programs.
  • Assists in planning, developing, and implementing effective advertising campaigns and content.
  • Coordinates and develops graphic design projects, including preparing, writing, editing, proofing, photographing, directing, and producing publications, brochures, promotional material, media releases, fact sheets, information packets, and flyers/posters to publicize programs as assigned.
  • Serves as the dedicated staff photographer as assigned.
  • Coordinates and develops all aspects of video production, including scripting, storyboarding, casting, filming, editing, and finalizing for distribution.
  • Assists in developing, directing, and evaluating department community relations/outreach efforts as assigned.
  • Assists with Familiarization Tours (FAMs).
  • Support front line; i.e. assist with guests and phone calls.
  • Creates Visitors Center collateral as directed.=
  • Creates and develops sales collateral as directed.
  • Monitors, develops, and coordinates website content as assigned.
  • Prepares materials on behalf of the department for advertising and communications.
  • Coordinates community and professional presentations/programs as assigned.
  • Coordinates and prepares materials for special public education projects as needed and/or directed.
  • Develop online and offline media ads.
  • Assist with and supports development of quarterly reports as requested by Marketing and Communications Supervisor.
  • Provides excellent customer service to members of the general public and other County employees. Personal contact occurs with other employees of the unit, employees of other departments in the County, citizens, and customers of the department. Service is provided in person or by phone contact.
  • Implements the organization’s guiding principles and core values.
  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.
  • Develop and manage content for OcalaMarion.com, to include, but not limited to, updating or creating partner listings, blogs and pages.
  • Develop and manage content for OcalaMarion Travel Guide App.
  • Develop and schedule content, both imagery and video, for multiple social media channels and segmented campaigns.
  • Assist in the development of content and execution of capturing the Marion Insider’s Guide, among other projects, to include but not limited to, research, script and content writing, scheduling, and promotion.
  • Assist with the execution of marketing and communications initiatives to increase awareness and drive more overnight visitation to Ocala/Marion County.
  • Provides excellent customer service to members of the general public and other County employees. Personal contact occurs with other employees of the unit, employees of other departments in the County, citizens, and customers of the department.

  • Performs other related job duties as assigned.

SUPERVISION

This position has no supervisory responsibilities. May occasionally function as a lead worker for a small group of employees (one to five) in the absence of a designated lead position. May review the work product of others. Provides guidance, advice, and assistance to others on work assignments.

 

QUALIFICATIONS:

Education and Experience:
Associate’s Degree in Communications, Marketing, Graphic Design, or related field or equivalent; Bachelor’s degree in the like preferred; and two (2) years’ related experience; or an equivalent combination of education and experience.

Licenses or Certifications:
Possession of a valid, State of Florida driver’s license to operate a motor vehicle. Requirement exists at the time of hire and as a condition of continued employment.

  • Ability to be creative and innovative with advanced graphic design programs.
  • Ability to read, analyze, and interpret most complex documents.
  • Ability to respond effectively to common inquiries or complaints from customers,regulatory agencies, or members of the business community.
  • Ability to write speeches and articles for publication that conform to prescribed style and format.
  • Ability to effectively present information to top management, public groups, and/or boards.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
  • Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent and to draw and interpret bar graphs.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral, or diagram form.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several concrete variables in standardized situations.
  • Ability to explain records and procedures to others as lead worker.
  • Ability to exercise judgment regarding use of equipment, tools, and materials.
  • Skills in graphic design and Adobe programs.
  • Knowledge of the functions, operations, and structure of County government for all areas of public relations and communications.
  • Knowledge with a wide array of media including print, broadcast, online, outdoor, and events/displays.
  • Knowledge of the principles, practices and techniques of marketing, communications, and graphic design.
  • Knowledge of personal computers and programs, including desktop publishing.
  • Knowledge of principles and techniques of marketing, advertising, and promotions.
  • Skilled in photography.
  • Ability to simplify complex concepts and explain department services and initiatives through the creation of visual and graphic design collateral.
  • Ability to write and produce clear and concise reports, publications, memoranda, graphics, and letters.
  • Ability to develop and maintain effective working relationships with outside agencies, internal departments and tourist development department personnel and ability to communicate clearly.
  • Ability to demonstrate creative, artistic talent used to create and produce a variety of advertisements, including, but not limited to, print, digital, email marketing, social media, etc.
  • Ability to meet multiple deadlines amid a dynamic work environment
  • Ability to take a teamwork approach to the job by cooperating with others, offering to help others when needed, and considering larger organization or team goals rather than individual concerns. Includes the ability to build a constructive team spirit where team members are committed to the goals and objectives of the team.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The work is sedentary work which requires exerting up to 50 pounds of force occasionally and 20 pounds frequently or constantly to lift, carry, push, pull or otherwise move objects, including the human body. While performing the duties of this job, the employee will regularly be required to talk or hear; frequently required to sit; and occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch or crawl, and use hands to finger to handle or feel.

 

WORK ENVIRONMENT
Work is performed primarily in an indoor environment with limited exposure to adverse environmental conditions.
